Morris Community High School Speech Team State Finalists

The Morris Community High School Speech Team were State Qualifiers!  They won the ISHA conference.  There are 204 schools that have Speech Teams throughout the state and 14 unique events.  The events range from impromptu speaking to acting to newscasting to poetry.  The competitions usually last about eight to 12 hours.  MCHS has 58 students involved in the Speech team.

Dylan Obrochta and McKayla Zorn did an amazing rendition of True Love using "Humorous Duet Acting."  It started as love at first sight, to the ups and downs of love and life, to death.

Chris Duffy, who won 7th overall did an "Informative Speech" called "Mighty Marfan Power Rangers" which is based on the heart and Marfans Syndrome.  Marfans Syndrome is caused by the over productions of protein fibrillin. One way to think of it is the "glue" that helps support every organ, blood vessel, bone, joint and muscle.  Chris's Aortic Valve is bicuspid instead of tricuspid.  He was diagnosed last year with the syndrome and felt passionate to share his journey thru this speech. Jonathan Larson the writer of "Rent", also had this syndrome but died before he was diagnosed with Marfans Syndrome.
