Teacher of the Year


 Immaculate Conception School

Principal Mr. Kim DesLauriers presents Mrs. Kristine Kitchell, Preschool and Art Teacher at ICS.  She always has a smile on her face and has a kind, caring, personality.  Mrs. Kitchell started teaching 4 years ago and is grateful for the path she has taken.                                           
Morris District 54, White Oak Elementry

Superintendent/Principal Mr. John Mathias presents Mrs. Laura Marriza, Teacher of the Year at White Oak.  Mrs. Marriza has taught 1st and 2nd grade at White Oak for 34 years.  She treats the children like they are her own and is humble and a dedicated Teacher.  Even though she will be retiring this year, she has absolutely, always loved her career - "It is not just a job."  


Principal Mr. Joe Zweeres presents Mrs. Rita Gemmer, Teacher of the Year at Saratoga.  Mrs Gemmer has been teaching for 28 years, which the last 24 years she has spent at Saratoga.  At Saratoga, she is a Title I Teacher and leads Special Intervention . She is the perfect example of how hard work pays off.  Mrs Gemmer is very active outside the classroom including the Speech Team, Young Authors, in charge of the Pork Chop Dinner, she started the Drama Club at Saratoga, PTO, helped start the "Saratoga Foundation Summer School."  She still runs the family farm with her husband and they have a Summer Pork Chop Fair Wagon.

Morris Community High School

Principal Mr. Kelly Hussey presents Mr. John Wodziak, Teacherof the Year at MCHS.  Mr. Wodziak has been teaching for 18 years and is the Business Teacher and a Line Coach for Football.  He is the first person at school in the mornings, and quite a dancer at the pep assemblies.  The students love and respect him.  He is a non-judgemental person - "what you see is what you get."  He is always honest and has great integrity.  Mr. Wodziak holds the students to a higher standard and pulls it out of the students.  Mr. Hussey says that "Mr. Wodziak just tries to do the best he can do with them kids."

Meeting Recap:
  • Diane opened the meeting at 5:47pm. 
  • Tour de Corn is still in NEED of SPONSORS for the June 4th event.
  • Scholarships interviews last Wednesday went well and we interviewed 30 students.  We have given over $250,000.00 in Scholarships since the 1960's.  
  • Jim Ringer --Dined and Dashed tonight, so he has a $20.00 fine payable at next weeks meeting.

The next Morris Rotary meeting will be held on May 2nd at Chop Shop at 5:45pm!  

*The Club continues to look for new members to continue to grow the membership. If interested in attending a meeting please feel free to join us anytime. We have adjusted our meeting times to start at 5:45 pm on Tuesday nights and to conclude by 6:45 pm with an option to have dinner immediately following.*
